ABOUT MARLAENA
Award-winning illustrator and author Marlaena Shannon arrived in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the end of February 2020. Mainly working in mixed media or oil, her recent artwork takes new inspiration from the vivid landscapes and unique wildlife of the high desert.
Since 2012, Marlaena has illustrated seven books, including four of her own. Her work has won awards for humor, short story, and cover design. She is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
WORK WITH MARLAENA
Marlaena works with independent authors to illustrate their books in a way that is reasonably priced and suits the author’s vision of their work. She also loves encouraging groups of all ages in their creative pursuits by sharing her experience in writing, illustrating, and creating books.
